Research Interests

Our research is geared towards spot-on functions and tailor-made properties emerging from the molecule's design. Molecules are the smallest building blocks providing the structural diversity required to address particular tasks and properly designed, they become the genesis of new materials and novel functions. The scientific challenges and fundamental questions addressed by tailor-made molecules are in many cases emerging from interdisciplinary collaborations with friends and colleagues from physics and physical chemistry. Motivated by the fruitful exchange with neighboring disciplines, the intrinsic structural beauty of molecular structures, and the unlimited diversity of the chemical space, the focus and main expertise of the group remains the fabrication of real matter, preparative chemistry and organic synthesis.

The distinguishing ability of chemists to create new molecules from scratch is extensively practiced and refined.
